Eco-town proposals open to public

The latest in a series of events outlining plans for an eco-town in Bedfordshire are being held.

Two roadshows will provide information on the eco-towns programme and encourage responses to consultations.

Up to 10 sites have been proposed from a shortlist of 12, including one in Marston Vale, Bedfordshire.

The roadshows are being held in the Forest Centre in Marston Moretaine on Friday and at the Howard Centre, Bedford, on Saturday.

The eco-towns are intended to tackle the problems of housing shortages and climate change.

They must be zero-carbon developments where the town puts back as much, or more, energy than it uses to the national grid. It should also excel in at least one area of environmental technology.
