Taxi driver is stabbed and robbed

A taxi driver was stabbed in the thigh and punched in the face by two robbers who stole his takings in Bedfordshire.

The robbers attacked the man, who is aged in his 30s, after getting into his cab at Manning Court in Dunstable, in the early hours of Friday, 11 July.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested and bailed in connection with the robbery.

Police want to trace two young women who got in the cab with the robbers at Skimpot Road, but got out in Windsor Drive, Dunstable.

Det Sgt Jay Bains, of Bedfordshire Police, said the inquiry was "still very much alive" and continued to appeal for witnesses and information.

He said: "It is important they understand we are simply treating them as possible witnesses and they have nothing to fear by getting in touch."
