Man tried to pull woman into car

A woman was grabbed by a man who tried to pull her into a car in Stevenage, Hertfordshire Police have revealed.

She was walking down Bedwell Crescent on Thursday when a dark coloured Peugeot 106 pulled up beside her.

A man got out of the front passenger side of the care and asked the woman for directions to Bedwell shops.

He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards the car. She managed to struggle free and the man got back into the car and the car drove off.

The suspect is described as a white man aged in his early 20s who was 5ft 8in and of a skinny build.

Witness appeal

He had bright ginger hair which was long enough to be tucked behind his ears and he had freckles on his face and nose.

He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and blue jeans which had a large hole in the area of his left knee.

The driver of the car is described as an Asian man in his 30s who was of a large, muscular build.

The victim described him as wearing a white tunic to knee length, white trousers and a black turban.

Det Con Victoria Major, of Hertfordshire Police, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who has any information about what happened to contact police.

"If you saw this car in the area during the afternoon of Thursday, 3 July or the men described then please get in touch."
