Parking space on sale for £25,000

The £25,000 car-parking space

A car-parking space in Hertfordshire being marketed as "ideal for commuters" is on sale for £25,000.

The parking space in Lemsford Road, St Albans, is a short walk from the city's station, with services to London's St Pancras International Railway Station.

Estate agent Nick North believes the space represents "value for money".

Mr North said: "Parking is about £4.80 a day, so for someone starting a career in the City, who wants to live here, it pays for itself after about 20 years."

The parking space, which has been on the market for four days, has room for one large car, has a gate which can be locked and is about 570m (1,870ft) from St Albans City Station.

'Five-minute walk'

Mr North, proprietor of North Estates, said: "We're providing a parking space which is a five-minute walk to the city's station which is a 21-minute train commute to St Pancras."

He pointed out that parking each day, Monday to Friday, would cost about £1,500 a year.

"A couple of other parking spaces have sold for about £19,000 in St Albans while one sold for £250,000 behind Harrods in central London.

"I am sure we will get someone to buy the space."

The owner of the space is a freeholder of the nearby block of flats.
