Man remanded over attempted rape

A 22-year-old man has appeared before magistrates charged with attempted rape following a sexual assault in a Bedfordshire church yard.

A 28-year-old woman was attacked in St Mary's church yard, Bedford, in the early hours of Sunday, 8 July.

Ryszard Zyzak, of no fixed abode, appeared before Luton Magistrates on Boxing Day, having been charged on Christmas Day with attempted rape.

Mr Zyzak was remanded in custody to appear at Luton Crown Court in March.
