'Ritualistic' murder victim named

Alfusaine Jabbi, 22, from Gambia in Africa A spiritual healer murdered in a "ritualistic killing" in Bedfordshire last month has been named.

Beds Police said the man, whose body was found in a car park in Luton on 29 April, is believed to be Alfusaine Jabbi, 22, from The Gambia in Africa.

He had been living in the UK since 2003 and worked as a spiritual healer called "Mr Wahib" - running his business from a flat in Bury Park Road, in Luton.

Police said the man has not been formally identified.

Police said Mr Jabbi had been stabbed and beaten to death and sustained severe injuries to his entire body.

"This man clearly led a double life"
Det Supt Keith Garwood

Det Supt Keith Garwood said he had released the name of the victim to help tease out any information about his business and personal life.

"This man clearly led a double life. On one hand he was the much-loved son known as Abdula, with a family living thousands of miles away and on the other, a business man called Mr Wahib, trying to make a living as a faith healer within the Muslim community," he said.

"We know that he worked from a flat in Bury Park Road and advertised his services with a business card in which he claimed he could break magic spells and ward off evil spirits.

"It is vital that we piece together every aspect of his life so that we can begin to establish a motive for his killing."

Detectives working on the Operation Monarch Incident Room said they are following a number of lines of enquiry, and on Monday searched a house in Pembroke Avenue, which may or may not be linked to Mr Jabbi's death.

The victim was found at 0607 BST in Leagrave Park car park in Sundon Park Road.

Mr Jabbi was also known by close family and friends as 'Abdula' and Mohammed Ali.

His family lives in The Gambia and while his two brothers are due to travel to the UK to formally identify him, they are not expected to arrive for another week or two.
