Force appoints new authority head

Sheila Blagg

West Mercia Police have elected a new chairwoman for its police authority.

Sheila Blagg from Worcestershire said she was looking forward to working to make the area a safe place to live, work and visit.

She takes over from outgoing chairman Paul Deneen who will continue to work for the authority in various roles and also at a national level.

The West Mercia force covers Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire.

Mrs Blagg has been a member of the authority since 2005.

The police authority is an independent body of local people who ensure West Mercia Police provide an effective service.
