England and Premier League footballer Jermain Defoe has been disqualified from driving for six months for speeding twice on the M11 in Essex.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker was found guilty of twice breaking a 50mph speed limit in Chigwell in 2008, by Chelmsford magistrates in May.
Defoe, 26, was fined £1,500 for failing to tell the authorities who was driving his Land Rover on both occasions.
The sentence was suspended as his lawyers said they would be appealing.
Defoe's lawyer, Dean George, said the appeal would be partly based on an argument that police paperwork was invalid on the grounds that it had been handled by an unauthorised person.
The footballer, of Cuffley, Hertfordshire, was also ordered to pay costs of £600.
