Man jailed over threats to kill

A Darlington man has been jailed for two years for threatening to kill his former girlfriend.

Michael Smith breached a court order banning him from harassing Lisa Scholes who ended their relationship because of violence, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Smith made threats which she believed he would carry out, said prosecutor Paul Hunter.

The 39-year-old, of Beaconsfield Street, admitted making threats to kill and breaching the order.
