Man admits bail hostel stabbing

A man has admitted stabbing to death a fellow resident at a Stockton hostel.

Mark Bradshaw, 24, from County Durham, was found with stab wounds in an alley behind the bail hostel in Edwards Street on 26 March.

Kelvin Benson, 25, admitted murder at Teesside Crown Court and was warned he faces a life term when he is sentenced later this year.

A 25-year-old woman and a boy, aged 17, also appeared at the hearing charged with murder, but did not enter pleas.

The Stockton teenager and the woman, from Chester-le-Street, were both remanded in custody.

Mr Bradshaw, formerly from Wheatley Hill, County Durham, had been staying at the hostel since September last year.

He died in Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital a week after the stabbing.
