Power cut hits a thousand homes

Bad weather has left more than 1,000 homes without power across Teesside and North Yorkshire.

More than 800 householders in East Cleveland are affected, mostly in Redcar and some in Easington.

Properties in High Leven, Easby, Great Ayton and Ingelby Barwick are also without electricity.

But power firm NEDL said around 500 homes left without power on Thursday morning in Seamer, Hilton and Matlby are now back on on line.
