Armed burglars target businessman

A 44-year-old businessman is recovering after armed men broke into his house in County Durham and robbed him.

The raiders, who were armed with guns, threatened the victim and were about to tie him up, when his teenage son walked in and they ran off.

The break-in happened in Haswell Moor, in Easington, on Tuesday night, Durham Police said.

The burglars escaped with cash, and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
