School plans unveiled to parents

People in East Durham will be able to see for the first time how three secondary schools might look following a multi-million pound re-build.

Plans for Shotton Hall School, Sedgefield Community College and Easington Community Science College go on display on 3 November.

The schools will be rebuilt as part of Durham County Council's £400m Building Schools for the Future programme.

All the county's secondary schools will be transformed over the next 10 years.

The plans and artists' impressions of the new buildings will go on display in the three schools and local libraries.

Claire Vasey, from Durham County Council, said: "These schools will be the first to be built under phase one of the programme.

"It's incredibly exciting to be unveiling the plans and design proposals for the schools and I'm sure parents, carers, pupils and local residents will be keen to find out what their school could look like in the future."
