New film-makers sought by agency

The regional screen agency for the East of England has started a £65,000 contest to find budding film-makers.

Screen East said it was looking for producers, directors and writers interested in genres including horror, comedy, animation and documentary.

Screen East will choose eight short film projects for development, and go on to produce five of those projects.

Four films will have a budget of up to £10,500, and one a budget of up to £15,000, Screen East said.

A sixth film will also be commissioned under a new animation strand, 4Mations.

Sam Burton, of Screen East, said: "We're looking for talented film-makers with enthusiasm, an original vision and impressive ideas for the big screen to work with us this year."

The films should be between 60 seconds and 15 minutes long.

The deadline for entries is 10 November.
