A petition has been launched calling for "proper funding" to improve a major motorway junction in Leicestershire following fatal accidents.
Twelve people have died in accidents over five years in the area called the Catthorpe Interchange, where the A14, M1 and M6 meet.
Bill Wright, of Welford, Warwickshire, appealed to people to petition the prime minister over the issue.
The Highways Agency said safety improvements were not being ignored.
A public consultation on a set of improvements is about to begin, but it will be at least three years before work starts.
An agency spokesman said "significant investment" was being brought forward.
The petition was launched online and 300 people have supported it so far.
Mr Wright, who lives close to the junction, said: "For every day that the work has not started that means that there is the risk of another life being lost."
