Couple are robbed on board train

A couple have been robbed by a man armed with a knife on board a train.

The 21-year-old woman and 20-year-old man were on a Lowestoft to Norwich train which was at Lowestoft station at about 2000 BST on Tuesday.

A man walked onto the train and threatened the couple who were forced to hand over their wallets before he fled, British Transport Police said.

The force said it was working closely for Suffolk police following two similar robberies in the town.

"This was a very frightening experience for the victims, who were left very shaken by what happened to them," Pc Mel Dobbs, of British Transport Police, said.

"We would like to reassure passengers, however, that this sort of incident is a rare occurrence on trains."

The robber, who was dressed in black, was described as white, aged in his 20s, of medium build, with short dark hair and tattoos on both arms.
