Arrest made over man set alight

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with an incident in which a man was set alight.

The victim, who is in his 20s, remains in a critical condition in a specialist burns unit at a hospital in Sussex.

He was set alight outside an address in Templedene Avenue, Staines, Surrey, at about 2320 BST on Saturday.

Surrey Police said the man from Hounslow, west London, would be questioned on Thursday morning.

The injured man was taken to St Peter's Hospital, in Chertsey, and later transferred to the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Police said a man was seen running down an alley leading towards Berryscroft Road, Arnold Road and Elizabeth Avenue.

They have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
