Power has been restored to about 1,500 homes across Kent, Sussex, and Surrey after stormy weather left 3,000 properties without electricity.
Supplies to homes were cut on Monday when storms, moving in from the Atlantic, damaged overhead power lines.
EDF Energy Networks said teams were out from early on Tuesday to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.
"We have been focusing on the many individual properties, particularly in more rural areas," a statement said.
The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience.
Lifeboat rescue
On Tuesday, emergency services were still urging people to stay away from exposed areas because of the strong winds.
On Monday a lifeboat was sent to rescue 40 people from a caravan park after flood defences were breached at high tide in Selsey Bill, West Sussex.
The Environment Agency said it would continue to use bulldozers to build up shingle to protect the beach.
"As soon as it is safe to work on the beach, Environment Agency teams will begin to reinstate it to provide as much flood protection as possible ahead of high tide tonight," a spokesman said.
