Man arrested over fire at house

Kingsthorpe Fire A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Sussex in connection with a murder inquiry started after a woman's body was found in a Northamptonshire house.

Fire and rescue crews were called to a blazing house in Washington Street in Kingsthorpe Village, Northampton, early on Tuesday morning.

Police were alerted when a 73-year-old woman's body was found with evidence the fire was started deliberately.

Police in Eastbourne are questioning a man arrested in Brighton, Sussex.

A man and a woman were rescued from the burning house by firefighters tackling the blaze but police have not said if they were injured.

A spokesmen said in a statement: "The house is cordoned off and fire service investigators are looking for the cause of the blaze."

Police are treating the fire as a "suspicious incident", the spokesman said.
