Ex-footballer faces driving trial

Steve Claridge Former footballer Steve Claridge has denied a charge of dangerous driving on a motorway.

The media pundit, of Fareham, Hampshire, is accused of driving a Peugeot 307 dangerously on the M42 in the West Midlands in December 2006.

Mr Claridge, 41, who played for several clubs including Birmingham City, Leicester City, Wolves and Portsmouth, appeared at Coventry Crown Court.

His trial is due to start on 12 May and is expected to last two days.
