Permission sought for wind farm

Plans to build ten wind turbines near a County Durham village have been submitted to the local authority.

Power company E.ON UK wants to construct the wind farm at Butterwick Moor, 3km north of Sedgefield.

Planning permission for a nearby development - Walkway Wind Farm - has already been approved.

The company says the £26m scheme would be able to produce around a third of the 2010 green generation targets for County Durham.
