Two held over house party murder

Coquet Street, Chopwell Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death at a house party.

Michael Ashley Hill, 23, from Blackhill in Consett, County Durham, died at the house in Coquet Street, Chopwell near Gateshead, early on Saturday.

Two women were also arrested in connection with the death. One has been bailed and no further action is being taken against the other.

Northumbria Police said officers have interviewed party guests.

A police spokeswoman said Mr Hill lived with his partner and had a four-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
