The cost of increased police patrols at RAF Fairford will be subsidised by a special grant of £250,000 from the government.
Home Secretary David Blunkett authorised the money because of the extra pressure on police at the Gloucestershire airbase.
American B-52s taking part in air raids in the Gulf are stationed there and the base has been the scene of peace protests since January.
Armed patrols were brought in at Fairford on 20 March and officers from several forces have helped police the perimeter fence.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a special grant of £250,000 is being made to Gloucestershire Police Authority."
Cotswolds Conservative MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown had lobbied the Home Office to pay for the police operation at the 1,170-acre airbase.
He said: "Gloucester Police have had to bring in extra personnel to RAF Fairford, whilst at the same time carrying out their normal duties in the rest of the county, involving huge amounts of extra overtime and cancelled leave."
