Man burnt in boatyard accident dies

A man from Saltash who received 83% burns in an industrial accident at a Devon boatyard has died from his injuries.

Benjamin Pinkham, who was 20, had been on a ventilator at Bristol's Frenchay Hospital since Monday's accident at Princess Yachts in Plympton.

He played in midfield for Saltash United Football Club and Saturday's game against Bodmin Town was postponed as a mark of respect.

The explosion occurred while he was cleaning a tank used to store chemicals at the Coypool Road site.

A health and safety investigation is underway into the incident.
