Guitarist Page opens charity HQ

Mr Page, 58, opened the new Bury St Edmunds offices of Action for Brazil's Children Trust (ABC Trust).

The charity was founded by Jimmy Page's wife Jimena Gomez-Paratcha in 1998, and Mr Page is a patron.

He has often played in South America, and said it was the plight of homeless children in Brazil that prompted him to help this charity.

'Favourable response'

Rosie Marsh, ABC Trust's executive director, said the charity works on a number of projects helping young people, often suffering poverty, in Brazil.

"The new building is very nice," she added.

"It is right in the centre of Bury and we have had a very favourable response to it."

Mr Page was recently voted the second-greatest guitarist of all time by readers of a UK music magazine, with Jimi Hendrix the first.

Led Zeppelin, made up of Mr Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham and Paul Jones, disbanded in 1980 after 12 years, following the sudden death of Mr Bonham.
