A seven-year-old girl has died and her three-year-old brother is seriously ill in hospital after being thrown out of a car during a road accident in North Nottinghamshire.
Adele Chloe Thornhill from Hirst Road in Retford was killed at the scene while her brother, Caledan, has been taken to Sheffield Children's hospital.
The crash happened at 2000 BST on Wednesday near Retford when a black Vauxhall Calibra swerved into a hedge at the top of Clarborough Hill.
The car was carrying five brothers and sisters and their mother, and was being driven by her male friend.
Rear seat
The car was travelling on the A620 towards Clarborough from North Wheatley when the accident happened.
Both children were passengers in the rear seat and were thrown out of the vehicle.
Lewis, two, his five-year-old sister Courtenay and brother Devon, eight, were also in the back seat.
Their mother Penny Good, 31 was in the passenger seat of the Calibra.
The driver of the car was unhurt and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
