University dropout rate

This table shows the percentage of students not continuing their courses at UK universities in 2005-06 after one year on a full-time first degree.

Institutions are listed alphabetically by home nation.

The second figure is the "benchmark" rate set by the funding council - using a methodology contested by some.

The final column shows whether the actual percentage was above (+) or below (-) the benchmark by an amount statisticians regard as significant.
