Met manager drops race bias claim

A manager employed to promote racial and religious diversity in the Met Police has withdrawn a discrimination claim and stepped down from her job.

Yasmin Rehman, 42, a senior civilian manager, had lodged employment tribunal papers alleging racial and sexual discrimination last year.

Ms Rehman was the force's most senior Muslim woman employee.

It has emerged her claim was formally withdrawn in December. A Met spokesman said they were "pleased".

Ms Rehman and her solicitor Nighat Sahi were not available for comment.

She had helped refine and implement many of the force's policies concerning working with minority ethnic groups, tackling forced marriages and honour killings.

But in legal documents relating to her case Ms Rehman had claimed she was being marginalised because of her colour, religion and sex, it was reported.
