For Tamils in the diaspora, keeping alive cultural and artistic practices is of immense importance.

Dance scholar Dr Ann David describes the Bharatnatyam dance learned by Tamil girls and how its re-emergence in temples has significance for those eager to preserve links with their cultural and religious heritage.
