21 July plot fiancee loses appeal

The fiancee of a 21 July bomb plotter has lost an appeal against her three-year sentence for helping him escape.

Fardosa Abdullahi, 20, who has given birth in custody, admitted giving Yassin Omar her mother's burka so he could flee London after the attacks.

She had applied for permission to challenge her sentence, but three judges ruled it was not "manifestly excessive or wrong in principle".

Omar and three others tried to bomb three Tube trains and a bus in 2005.

Lord Justice Latham, Mr Justice Openshaw and Mr Justice Burnett also dismissed appeals by three men convicted of helping the failed bombers avoid the police.

Siraj Ali, 34, from Enfield, north London, Muhedin Ali, 30, from Ladbroke Grove, west London, and Ismail Abdurahman, 26, from Lambeth, south London, were all found guilty of failing to disclose information about terrorism and assisting an offender.

But the trio, as well as two others jailed with them, had their sentences reduced.

Siraj Ali's sentence was reduced from 12 to nine years, Abdurahman's from 10 to eight years, and Muhedin Ali's from seven years to four years and nine months.

Sentence appeals were also allowed by by Wahbi Mohammed, 26, and Abdul Sherif, 31, both of Stockwell, south London, who were jailed for failing to disclose information about terrorism and assisting an offender.

Mohammed's 17-year sentence was cut to 13 and Sherif's was reduced from 10 years to six years and nine months.

Bomb plotters Yassin Omar, 26, Muktar Ibrahim, 29, Ramzi Mohammed, 25, and Hussain Osman, 28, were jailed for life in July 2007.

Among the other accomplices who were tried and convicted were Osman's wife Yeshi Girma.
