A British man has died after reportedly being shot by two armed motorcyclists in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.

Harry Christopher, 29, died on Friday, with local media reports suggesting he was shot five times in the back.

Infobae website quoted a police source who said the victim's laptop computer and mobile phone were in his bag, making robbery less likely as a motive.

The Foreign Office said next of kin had been informed of the death and consular assistance was being provided.

A spokeswoman added that Argentine police had launched an investigation into the death.
