Fifth man facing terror charges

A fifth man has been charged with terror offences following an investigation into alleged threats to kill Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Krenar Lusha, 29, from Derby, will appear before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Four men from Lancashire have already been charged in connection with the alleged threats.

The threats on a recognised jihadi website were said also to be against former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Mr Lusha faces five charges, including collecting or recording information likely to be useful to someone wanting to commit or prepare a terrorist act.

He is also accused of possessing 4kg of Potassium Nitrate, Greater Manchester Police said.

Four men from Blackburn have already appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in connection with the case.

Brothers Abbas Iqbal, 23, and Ilyas Iqbal, 21; Ishaq Kanmi, 22, and Muhammad Ali Mumtaz Ahmad, 24, have all been remanded in custody.

Abbas Iqbal and Ilyas Iqbal face several charges, including one each of possessing terrorist material.

Mr Kanmi is accused of soliciting murder and of belonging or professing to belong to al-Qaeda.

He also faces additional charges of inviting support for al-Qaeda and dissemination of terrorist publications.

Mr Ahmad is accused of having material such as camouflage clothes and plans for "urban combat".
