Jersey force 'to search new site'

Police officer at former home Haut de la Garenne

Jersey police are to start searching a second site on the island in connection with the ongoing historical child abuse investigation, the BBC understands.

The site is a German World War II bunker near Victoria Tower in the east of the island.

Police are investigating allegations of abuse dating back decades at institutions across the island.

Detectives have been searching a cellar at the former children's home Haut de la Garenne in St Martin.

Three people have so far been charged in connection with historic abuse allegations.

An official announcement on the new search is expected on Wednesday.
