Student remanded in 'terror' case

A 19-year-old man accused of trying to make a bomb at his home has been remanded in custody.

Andrew Ibrahim, known as Isa, of Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, appeared for the hearing at the Old Bailey via a video-link from London's Belmarsh jail.

He is accused of having articles for terrorism including two home-made vests, ball bearings, nails and screws.

Mr Ibrahim is also charged with making or having an explosive - hexamethylene triperoxide diamine - with intent.

Police carried out a series of controlled explosions at Mr Ibrahim's home following his arrest in April.

Mr Justice Calvert-Smith told Mr Ibrahim, who is a Muslim convert, that his trial could take place in January next year.

He said it had not yet been decided if it would be heard in London or the West Country.
