It said it was examining a survey of six dioceses, which reportedly found that the majority of the several hundred women priests questioned claimed to have suffered bullying or harassment by clergy.
The survey, which was carried out by the clergy section of the Manufacturing Science and Finance Union (MSF), also uncovered evidence of women priests being physically injured in disputes with male colleagues and, in a small number of cases, sexually assaulted.
The survey is billed as the first examination of the working conditions of the Church of England's 2,000 women priests.
According to The Observer newspaper, bullying ranges from verbal abuse, intimidation and harassment to ostracism and routine discourtesy.
It also comes from parishioners and sometimes from clergy wives, says the newspaper.
Dr William Beaver, the Church's Head of Communications, said: "We have got a copy of the report and we are already looking at it. But we do not think that such conclusions that most women priests are bullied can be drawn because the report covers only six dioceses out of 44.
"In no shape or form would we tolerate harassment or bullying of women. Every woman cleric knows where to take any allegations for redress."
