Terror pamphlet charge two bailed

A couple accused of publishing a pamphlet encouraging terrorism have appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Amjad Mahmood, 29, and Shella Roma, 27, are charged with distributing a terrorist publication between 10 October last year and 31 January.

The pair, from Oldham, in Greater Manchester, who have a six-month-old baby, were freed on conditional bail.

Their legal counsel said they intended to plead not guilty.

In court, Ms Roma, who wore a white jacket and jeans, rested her head on the shoulder of her partner, Mr Mahmood, who works at a restaurant in central Manchester.

The couple were arrested on 3 February at their home in Chester Road by counter-terrorist police.

They face a joint charge under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

They will appear again at the court on 8 April.
