Posh denies snubbing Ferguson

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has denied she is snubbing Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson by missing a banquet to honour him.

"She is rehearsing with the Spice Girls for the Brit Awards," said David Beckham's wife's agent.

"It's absolutely not a snub. She just can't be in two places at once."

All the rest of the first team's players and their wives are expected to be at Monday's ceremony to present the keys to the city of Manchester to Sir Alex.

Reported clashes

The decision not to attend the event follows a series of reported clashes between the Spice Girl and the team manager over the way her husband has been treated.

Tensions apparently flared this week after Sir Alex banned Beckham from the field at United's match against Leeds because he had missed training. He claimed he had to stay at home and look after his sick baby Brooklyn.

Several newspapers at the time commented that Brooklyn's illness did not stop Victoria modelling at London Fashion Week.

The absence from the team of United's most high-profile player, inevitably increased speculation about his future.

Tabloid reports have suggested in recent weeks that Beckham, who lives in Hertfordshire with his young family, could be on his way from Old Trafford.
