A man charged with involvement in an alleged plan to kidnap and kill a member of the British armed forces has appeared in court.
Parviz Khan, 36, and four other men arrested after raids in Birmingham were remanded in custody until 23 February by City of Westminster magistrates.
All five men are charged with supplying equipment and funding for terrorism.
Later, police said Basiru Gassama, 29, who was also held in the raids, has been charged under the Terrorism Act.
He has been accused of failing to disclose information of material assistance in preventing an act of terrorism by Mr Khan and others.
West Midlands Police said he is due at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Nine men were arrested in the raids last month. Three have been released without charge.
Three released
The five men who were remanded were taken from Coventry to the central London court in a police convoy.
They will next appear before the Old Bailey.
They each face two charges brought under the Terrorism Act 2006 and the Terrorism Act 2000.
Mr Khan, Amjad Mahmood, 31, Mohammed Irfan, 30, Zahoor Iqbal, 29, and Hamid Elasmar, 43, are accused of supplying equipment and funding for a terrorist act between 30 March last year and 31 January.
Mr Khan faces an additional charge alleging that he engaged in conduct to give effect to his intention to kidnap and kill a member of the British Armed Forces between 1 November 2006 and 31 January 2007.
Mr Mahmood also faces an additional charge of failing to disclose information of material assistance in preventing an act of terrorism by Mr Khan and others.
