Jagger marriage annulled

Jagger marriage annulled
Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger's marriage to model Jerry Hall has been declared null and void at the High Court in London.

Neither Jagger nor Hall were present for the 30-minute hearing before Mr Justice Connell on Friday morning.

After hearing evidence on behalf of Hall the judge ruled their "marriage" in Bali in 1990 was not valid either in Indonesia or under English law, and a decree of nullity was granted to Hall.

Their lawyers have insisted the couple would remain friends and that a "mutually acceptable legal and financial settlement" had been reached.

Despite the annulment, they have been seen together recently and they have said they aim to "play their full part as parents" to their four children, Elizabeth, James, Georgia May and Gabriel.

The annulment avoids what had been expected to be a long and costly court battle, in which Ms Hall, 43, was reportedly seeking a £30m share of Jagger's wealth.

The couple met backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in 1977 when Hall was 20.

Their relationship started later, at a New York dinner party - even though Jagger, now 55, was still married to his first wife Bianca at the time. Hall had been in a relationship with Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry.

They quickly became one of the world's most talked-about celebrity couples - but they did not marry until 1990, by which time Hall had given birth to to their first two children, Elizabeth and James.

But reports of Jagger's alleged infidelities dogged the relationship, ending with news late in 1998 that Brazillian model Luciana Morad was pregnant with Jagger's child.

Hall - already a millionairess thanks to a successful modelling career - filed for divorce in January.

Last month it was proved that Jagger was the father of Lucas, who is nearly three months old.

Hall is currently in Dallas, where her twin sister is undergoing chemotherapy.
