Stanley, now a self-employed computer consultant, was described by Judge Michael Mott as a predatory and aggressive paedophile who preyed on vulnerable young boys.
"You cleverly chose boys who would not complain, some who were as young as 10," said the judge.
He was convicted by Worcester Crown Court on several charges, including indecent assault and possessing pornographic photographs with a view to distributing them on the Internet.
The offences were committed while Stanley worked as a scoutmaster and then as a care assistant at a privately-run residential children's home in Shifnal, Shropshire.
The home was part of the same company which owned the Bryn Alyn home in north Wales, whose owner was sentenced to six years for paedophile offences.
Stanley's trial was the result an investigation launched in November last year by West Mercia police.
Detective Chief Inspector John Cashion said he was very pleased with the outcome of the case.
"The extent of Stanley's abuse was vast and over 300 witness statements were obtained," he said.
The police even staged a road accident outside Stanley's house as part of an elaborate plan to get access to his computer before he was able to erase incriminating pictures.
