The Earl and Countess are now installed at Bagshot Park in Surrey, which Prince Edward, 35, has made the base of his TV production company.
But as she turned up for work, Sophie said she would not be commuting from Surrey five days a week.
"I will probably be staying in London a couple of days," she told reporters.
Her home in the capital is the Prince's apartment in Buckingham Palace.
At work, she will be known as Sophie Wessex. But she has not decided whether to change the name of her company RJH PR Ltd, which took the initials of her maiden name, Rhys-Jones.
