The Archbishop of Canterbury led a moving service in Westminster Abbey attended by dignitaries from around the world, as many thousands gathered outside and along the route that took the Queen Mother to her final resting place.
The Queen delivered a nationwide address to pay tribute to her mother and to thank members of the public, saying the outpouring of affection over the last few days had been "overwhelming".
The Queen Mother's grandsons kept a short vigil around her coffin on the evening before the funeral. Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward as well as Viscount Linley all took part.

Prince Charles talks about his grief in a television statement two days after her death. He says she served the UK with "panache, style and unswerving dignity."
Buckingham Palace releases a statement announcing the death of the Queen Mother. It says she died peacefully in her sleep at the Royal Lodge, Windsor, with her daughter at her bedside.
