Picture gallery: Concorde flies again


Concorde returns to passenger service on Wednesday with both British Airways and Air France operating flights to New York.

Flying from London, BA's chief Concorde pilot, Mike Bannister will take the aircraft to heights of almost 60,000ft and speeds of up to 1,350mph in a trip that is likely to take just three hours 20 minutes.


Captain Mike Bannister has been flying the luxurious supersonic aircraft since 1977


Concorde's specially reinforced tyres are checked by engineers


Last minute work is carried out at Heathrow ahead of the first commercial flight
