Since the announcement of the 12 June presidential election result there have been mass demonstrations in Iran.

Street protests have drawn the largest crowds since the Iranian Revolution in 1979.

The election returned Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the presidency but opposition supporters have been demanding a recount of the votes.

Iran's top electoral body, the Guardian Council, has confirmed the victory of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the presidential election after a partial recount.
