Boxer quizzed over attack on woman
Former world champion boxer Herbie Hide is being questioned by Norfolk police in connection with an alleged attack on a woman.
The former WBO world heavyweight champion was arrested on Wednesday night on the outskirts of his home town of Norwich.
It is understood he was detained on the street rather than inside a premises.
A Norfolk police spokesman said: "A man was arrested last night in connection with allegations of assault on a female.
"He is helping police with their inquiries at Bethel Street police station in Norwich."
He said the inquiry was at an early stage and it was not yet known whether charges would be brought.
Hide's reign as WBO world heavyweight champion came to an end last June after he was stopped in two rounds by Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko.
The defeat is thought to have spelt the end of the Norwich-based fighter's career at the top level of boxing.
