Nudists told where to bare all

Nudists told where to bare all
Nudists who use a popular beach in Gwynedd will soon find themselves limited to the amount of seashore they can enjoy.

There have been a growing number of complaints from locals and other visitors to Dyffryn Ardudwy about the way they can suddenly find themselves confronted by nude bathers.

Nudists have been coming to the popular beach since the 1930s.

Council action

But following complaints that the nudists have started to wander among the clothed bathers the local council has started to take action.

Now Gwynedd Council has decided to put up signs spelling out just where the nudists can go.

The nudists will have their own special sections where they can stretch out and bare all.

From August anyone ignoring the signs could find themselves caught out by the long arrm of the law as police may take action against them.

"We will be designating an area specifically for the nudists to frequent," said Gwyndedd Council's Assistant Director of Leisure Marian Jackson.

"It will be about a mile-and-a-half north of the main beach. There will be signs and it will be controlled."

But one naturist, who did not want to be identified, called the new plans an "imposition".

"We will all be herded together like animals and we simply don't want it," he said.
