More fighting in Afghanistan

There's been another day of fighting north of the Afghan capital, Kabul, between Taleban forces and fighters loyal to the opposition commander, Ahmad Shah Massood.

The Taleban used jets and tanks in an effort to break entrenched positions held by the opposition near the key airbase of Bagram, about twenty-five kilometres from of the city.

A spokesman for the Taleban Hakim Mujaid told the BBC that they had not wanted the fighting.

He said it was provoked by their opponents.

An opposition spokesman Professor Sayaf blamed the Taleban for the clashes and said that Taleban air attacks had killed several civilians.
