Three killed in Afghanistan blast

A bomb blast has killed three policemen in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar - long a centre for Taleban support.

The explosives were hidden in a wooden cart, and were detonated as a police vehicle drove by, officials said.

The Taleban has said it carried out the attack, which injured another 12 people - five police and seven civilians.

Earlier three Canadian soldiers were killed in an explosion in Kandahar province, when their armoured vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb.

More than 100 Canadian troops have now died in Afghanistan since they first deployed there in 2002.

On Friday, four British marines were killed in Helmand province.
