Millions vote in Madhya Pradesh

Millions of Indians are voting in the state of Madhya Pradesh in an election seen as a key indicator of possible trends in next year's general election.

More than 36 million people are registered to vote in the state poll.

Elections are due to follow in the next few days in the capital, Delhi, and the states of Mizoram and Rajasthan.

The general election must be held by May but could be called earlier, depending on the results of the state elections.
