India bus plunge 'leaves 45 dead'

Police in India say 45 people have been killed after a bus in which they were travelling plunged down a deep gorge.

The accident happened near Kufri, a popular ski resort in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The driver of the bus was among the dead. Five people survived and are being treated at a local hospital.

Road accidents are common in India and claim hundreds of lives each year. Most are blamed on reckless driving, old vehicles and poorly maintained roads.
